GRANDMA'S RECIPES

7-UP SURPRISE


1-46oz can pineapple juice                                  

10-7oz bottles of 7-UP (two litters)

2-6oz cans frozen thawed orange juice

1/2 tsp. Peppermint extract  
1 jar Maraschino cherries
2 trays 7-UP ice cubes

 

Mix ingredients, place cherries in each ice cube,

freeze, add for decoration.  Makes 30 cups.

 

LAZY DAISY CAKE

Put 1/2 cup milk and 2 tbsp. butter on to heat.  

Beat 2 eggs until light and foamy.  Add 1 cup

sugar and beat vigorously.  Sift together 1 cup

flour, 1 tsp. baking powder and 1/4 tsp. Salt.  

Stir into egg mixture.  Add 1 tsp. Vanilla.  Then

add hot milk, stirring carefully as added.  


Pour into 8X8X2 pan, bake 25 to 30 minutes in

350 degree oven.  Frost with 2/3 cup brown sugar,
that is mixed with 1/3 cup melted butter, 2 tbsp.  

Cream and 1/2 cup coconut.  Spread on cake
while warm, return to oven, leave until frosting

caramelizes, but not long enough to dry out.

 

YUM-YUMS

1 lb hamburger                                             

1/2 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. pepper                                             

1/4 cup chopped onions

Add soup, sugar, vinegar

1 can tomato soup 

1 tbsp. brown sugar
1 scant tbsp. each Worcestershire

   sauce & vinegar

 

Brown hamburger, salt, pepper, onion,
until hamburger is cooked, drain fat off.
Add soup, sugar, vinegar and Worcester-
shire sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
To thicken, add a little water, serve on buns.

 

FAST CHERRY DESSERT

1 tbsp. soft margarine                                                                     

1/2 cup sugar 

1/2 cup milk

1 tsp. baking powder

1 cup flour

 

Mix above together, put in 5X10 pan,

greased.  On top put 1 cup drained

cherries and 1 cup sugar.  Boil 1 cup

water and pour over top of cherries

and cake mixture.  Bake 30 minutes

or until done at 350 degrees.

                                 
Serves 8.


LONG BOY CHEESEBURGERS

Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees.  Mix:

1 lb ground beef         

1 tsp. salt & pepper  

1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 

1/2 cup catsup or chili sauce

1/2 cup chopped onions

1/2 cup corn flake crumbs
1/2 can Pet or Carnation Milk

 

Spread mixture on Brown and Serve
Holland rolls, put on cookie sheets.
Bake 25 minutes.  During last 5 minutes
lay strips of cheese across.
