Tasty fun from Yesterday . . .

Recipes from 1930 . . . really . . . 1930!

 

Steak Noodle Dish

 

1 1/2 lbs beef steak                                                                                  

8 oz. pkg. noodles

1 small green pepper

3 cans cream of chicken soup

1 small can mushrooms (optional)

 

Cut beef in small pieces.  Brown

with green pepper.  Cook noodles. 

Add meat and three cans of soup.

Put in casserole.  Top with grated

cheese.  Heat in oven about 15

minutes or until cheese melts.

 

Grandma's Sugar Cookies

 

1 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar

1 cup margarine

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla

1/2 tsp almond flavoring

2 1/2 cups sifted flour

1 tsp soda

1 tsp cream of tartar

Cream butter and sugar.

Add egg and flavoring.

 

Mix thoroughly.  Sift dry ingredients together

and blend in.  Using 1/2 cup powdered sugar

and 1/2 cup flour sifted together, sprinkle on

pastry clothand roll dough 3/16 inch thick, cut

with cookie cutter.  Bake on un-greased sheet

at 375 oven for 7-8 minutes.  Top of cookie

may be sprinkled with sugar.  The secret of the

crisp cookie is rolling in the mixture of powdered

sugar and flour.

 

Yields 45 -50 cookiesof 2 inches in diameter.
